I am so grateful for the experience I had and what I was taught through it – literally and academically

I was also shown the importance of balance in one’s life. I learned what really matters to me as a person – SPOILER ALERT: academics is not everything. While I still believe school is incredibly important, there are other things that matter to me, too – spending time with my family, hanging out with friends, attending church and growing in my faith, pursuing my hobbies and interests, writing for this blog, working at Chick-fil-A, exploring career opportunities for the future, discovering what mark I want to leave on the world – the list goes on. Balance matters.

I know that all of you RPC students like me only have a blog because you have to post your essays on it. But The only reason you d that is so people can correct them. But that is what i have noticed! No one is correcting them. All we do is like or say it is good because we don’t want to take the time to correct the essay. I do this too.

I knew that I would receive that A by agreeing with and using my teacher’s ideas

This tactic is most commonly used for written assignments, but students must begin voicing their ideas without fear of being “wrong” because one’s ideas do not correlate to their teacher’s. This will also require teachers to get out of the mindset of believing there is a right or wrong answer. Perhaps creating a how-to on formulating one’s idea. I find that the topic of research will also play a part in this. Recognizing bias while researching plays a crucial role in developing one’s ideas.

Hopefully, this post will give you a better understanding of who I am as a person outside of being your instructor

Usually on the very first day of college classes, instructors do a “get to know me” activity on syllabus day. And, usually this “get to know me” activity happens in a physical classroom where everyone can see our unmasked faces. Unfortunately, this semester is quite different. Our main mode of instruction will be asynchronous online; our class is broken up into four groups, so the max number of people in class will be around seven people; we’re required to wear masks in the classroom; and we will never have the opportunity to meet as an entire class.

So, how can we circumvent this unprecedented semester and come together–as much as possible–as a class?
